It will be no easy task for vehicle manufactures to meet passenger car fuel consumption and emission targets for Europe. Improvements to gasoline and diesel powered engines to meet alone will not be sufficient to meet upcoming CO2 and air quality targets. To satisfy continually tightening legislation in Europe, manufacturers must utilize a variety of vehicle strategies and powertrain hybridisation topology.
